The KREISEL high-pressure rotary valve is one of the most commonly used systems for feeding bulk materials into pneumatic conveying lines. Thanks to its state-of-the-art technology, it offers a highly energy-efficient alternative to traditional screw pumps. With reduced drive power, the system significantly lowers energy consumption, which reduces both operational costs and environmental impact.
Another key advantage is the extremely wear-resistant buildup welding in the valve with Ultra-Carbide®. This special material drastically reduces wear compared to conventional rotary valves, significantly increases the system’s durability and reliability. This makes the KREISEL high-pressure rotary valve an ideal solution for modern, efficient operations in challenging environments.
Range of application:
Fine, non-caking materials and dusts
Conveyed material:
Cement, lime stone, gypsum, ash, raw meal (no raw material), bypass dust, coal dust, various other dusts (particle size < 0.1 mm)
Conveying tower with ZSV-H

Advantages:
- Cost savings up to 95% due to energy reduction
- Reduction of CO2 emissions
- High reliability due to wear protection
- Quadruple life circle due to symmetrical design (3 times turnable)
- Regrindable or exchangeable ceramic parts
- Simple installation & short commissioning times
- Unbeatable low maintenance demand
Depending on the specific requirements, various wear protection systems (Levels 1-6) are available. These protection systems provide customized solutions for a wide range of applications, from moderate to extremely abrasive materials. This ensures an optimal balance between durability and cost-effectiveness of the KREISEL rotary valves.
Ultra-Carbide®
The specially developed Ultra-Carbide® coating is an extremely hard and durable weld-in lining designed to protect components from wear. It consists of a combination of various alloying components, specifically engineered for the challenging use in KREISEL rotary valves handling highly abrasive bulk materials. The coating is characterized by its high hardness, temperature resistance, and chemical stability.

| Energy costs | $/kWh | 0.30 | 0.30 |
| Coupling power of feeding device | kW | 155 | 5 |
| Coupling power of pressure generator | kW | 336 | 294 |
| Total energy consumption | kW | 491 | 299 |
| Total energy consumption per year | kWh/a | 3,682,500 | 2,242,500 |
| Energy costs per year | $/a | 1,104,750 | 672,750 |
| Savings in energy consumption per year | kWh/a | 1,440,000 kWh | |
| Savings in energy costs per year | $/a | 432,000 (-39%) |
The following example shows the enormous reduction of energy demand and costs. The reduction of power consumption is realized due to the replacement of the big screw pump motor by a small motor at the high-pressure rotary feeder. Additionally, there is no internal pressure drop as it is seen at the screw pump so that there is a pressure reduction at the pressure generator.
The hardness of Ultra-Carbide® exceeds Mohs 9 (for comparison: Diamond has the highest known hardness of a naturally occurring mineral with Mohs hardness 10).
Wear protection / Comparison of hardness
The replacement of the screw pump by the KREISEL high-pressure rotary feeder is very simple and time-saving and can be done with minimal modifications at the feeding system. By adjusting the screw pump’s de-dusting box, the rotary valve can easily be connected to the existing de-dusting system.
The conveying air compressor or blower, as well as the conveying pipe, remain often unchanged. KREISEL provides all the necessary information for the modification and supports our customers from measurement to commissioning.
Replacement
On the right, a screw pump was replaced by a KREISEL rotary valve. The left screw pump now only serves as a standby device.
A further advantage of the KREISEL rotary valve is the installation height as shown in the picture for a feeding capacity of 50 t/h of cement.
